Recovered Paper SORTing with Innovative Technologies

The concept of this project is the development of new and improved sensor and measurement technologies for recovered paper sorting. Automatic identification units will be developed and integrated into the sorting processes that provide optimal measurement conditions matching the demands for separation. With respect to initial composition of recovered papers to be sorted and specifications of the customers (recycled paper producers), new concepts for the sorting process will be developed.

Recovered Paper SORTing with Innovative Technologies -SORT IT Final Meeting

The purpose of the present workshop is to gather top European Experts from these 2 projects and other key stakeholders in the area of recovered paper collection and usage. It is meant as a major contribution to the production of high level input, which will be communicated to the European Commission for further development of its environmental policy, as part of the dissemination plan in the SORT IT project.

Participation to scientific events

During the 14th International Symposium on Cellulose Chemistry and Technology held in Iasi, Romania our Project was represented with three papers presented on 9th September in the Working Session IIB.

SORT IT Project Certification by « Pole Fibres»

During its meeting on 21st January 2010, The Innovation Council of the "Pole de Competitivite Fibres" approved "La Labellisation du projet SORT IT".
« La Labellisation d'un Projet » is a certificate that proves the excellence of the project in terms of sit scientific aspects and coherence with the strategy of Certification Beroux. The certification demonstrates also the support of "Pole de Competitivite" for the SORT IT project and its partners. The promotion of the SORT IT in frame of «Pôle Fibres» and documentation for certification were performed by Jean-Yves Escabasse and Armand Klem.

PTS soft sensor “Virtual fractionation“

The PTS-SoftMcNett sensor developed by PTS calculates fibre fractions automatically using the data from image-analytical fibre measurements.

Latest event

New automatic sorting technology, developed in the frame of SORT IT project, was integrated in industrial scale recovered paper sorting line from Rauch Recycling in Linz, Austria. The new sorting plant is running and is preparing for sorting trials.
